Beekeeping is a hobby for some and a job for others. It usually means working outdoors, working in nature, outside a populated area. The orchard may be in the yard of the house, the field with field crops may be at the end of the village, but the beehive, due to its specifics, must be located further from the settlement, or at least it should be.
So, the first and most important condition for beekeeping is to have a piece of land owned or leased. Of the total costs of beekeepers, almost half go on the journey between the place of residence and the beehives. Without a personal means of transportation, it is difficult to imagine working in an apiary.
There is no love for bees, at least not before the start from the beginning of this beautiful business. For someone to love bees and beekeeping is something completely different. And not only to fall in love, but also to make this activity his obsession. There are a number of examples of some beekeepers who, even after becoming allergic to bee venom, do not leave beekeeping even though they are in imminent danger of death.
A very important condition for beekeeping is that it is not allergic to bee stings, wasps, hornets. In today’s conditions, this can be very easily checked with an allergy test in any laboratory.
Interest in reading literature or watching video material on the Internet is not a condition for starting beekeeping, but a recommendation for an activity that should be carried out continuously.
There are many authors, there are frequent disagreements about the best methods and techniques, and that is why there is an unwritten rule – do as your mentor does.
Of course, there were those who started beekeeping without consulting anyone, but such a path is often more difficult. It is most ideal when the mentor is someone who has the opportunity to go with a beginner beekeeper to the apiary. In the absence of practical work with a mentor, advice over the phone also justifies its purpose.
